CD/Dvd Drive Problems Fix – CD/DVD Drive not Found in Windows XP

When booting up the computer, it says that there is no CD/DVD drive detected in your PC. I believe that many people met problems like “CD/DVD Drive not Found in Windows XP” before. And if you can find your CD/DVD drive in the Device Manager, probably you could fix CD/DVD Drive Problems easily.

Step 1 Right-click My Computer, select Properties;choose the Hardware tab and click Device Manager to open the Device Manager sheet.

Step 2 On this sheet find out your CD/DVD-ROM drives and check if there are any errors next to both devices (a yellow exclamation mark, question mark, or a red cross mark).

Step 3 If there are errors, right-click the problematic devices and select Unistall to uninstall them.

Step 4 Restart the computer and Windows will reinstall the drivers for your CD/DVD drive automatically.

Step 1 Create a text file containing the data as below with NOTEPAD.

Step 2 Name this text file as fixcd.reg.

Step 3 On the bottom in NOTEPAD you should have the following three boxes:

1. Filename: fixcd.reg
2. Save as type: all files
3. Encoding: ANSI.

Step 4 Restart Your Computer.

Then you will find your missing CD/DVD drives again.
