Will this graphics card work well with this computer ?

I was searching on the internet to buy a graphics card for my Dell optiplex gx280 sff (Small Form Factor). Due to it having a Small Form Factor Chassis, I had to search for a low profile graphics card. And I found this: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4353968&CatId=1826 . Will it work with my computer?

If I’m not wrong, your Dell has a small 160Watt PSU (Power Supply) while the 8400GS card you’ve selected wants a minimum of 350Watts. The 8400GS only draws about 40 watts by itself but I wouldn’t say this setup would be ideal.To be on the safer side, here are a few options that you can go with..

1. Buy a better SFF compatible PSU along with the 8400GS.

2. Go for another card.. I’d recommend the ATi HD 4550 or ATI Radeon x300 which are both low profile and don’t need an extra power connector. Take a look here.

3. Now this is going to sound crazy unless you’re the adventurous type, but it’s an option

In your chassis, between the hard drive and the IDE cable, there should be a free space of about 0.6 inches length. You could cut a rectangle in that area above your PCI-Ex 16 which would allow you to use any average PCI-Ex16 card.
