Upgrade my video card?

Hello I have now in my computer a “matrox millennium g450 dual head” and I want to get a new graphic card, any suggestions on what to get? And where.

Well, first of all – you probably can’t upgrade anything in a PC except the memory(ram) and the hard-drive (disk).

You see your existing video board is probably AGP-4X. There haven’t been any motherboards made for AGP in several years. Thus the video board manufacturers have long stopped making their products with the AGP interface.

It’s the joy and pain of computer technology. Every two years we seem to get new CPUs with new sockets needing new Memory. And the motherboard manufacturers have new buses – the latest is PCIx16.

The good news is computers seem to continually get better yet less expensive.

Perhaps you can find a better video card on the used market?
