Microsoft has created the Configuration Manager SDK   by Flower

The DDR tree, which is used to report the client’s heartbeat information, contains an additional subtree–Instances. The Instances subtree contains information about the components that make up the Data Discovery Record (DDR). If you expand any of the items, you will be presented with the data tha s used to update the client’s discovery data within the database. Using this information, you can see if the heartbeat is working on the system, when the last heartbeat was sent, and the data that was sent to be included within the database.

If any of the data is different between the client’s DDR information and the atabase, you will need to determine why the update did not occur.

Software Metering

The Software Metering tab, seen in Figure 19.23, displays all of the enabled software metering rules for the site. These are shown in a list, sorted by the rule ID. Because all of the rules within the site will be the same for every managed system, you can quickly compare two systems to make sure that they match.

Each rule that appears within the tab will contain the File Version, language version, and original file name of the file.

The Final Word As you have come to find out, Configuration Manager is a rather large suite of tools, all meant to help manage your systems. Managing Configuration Manager can be a rather daunting task. The tools that we have reviewed within thischapter are meant to make managing Configuration Manager a little bit easier.

Getting to know these tools will benefit you as you perform your day-to-day activities and troubleshooting.
